An Ideal husband … Oscar Wilde’s Quotes

I went to the theatre tonight. The first time I visited London, I was here for 10 days and went to the theatre 5 times. Now I’ve lived her for over 4.5 years and I’ve been to the theatre 5 times. Actually 6 including tonight and it’s been a good 2-3 years since I last went.

I’m not sure when and why I stopped. Life is strange like that. One minute you love doing something and the next you can’t remember why you stopped.

Tonight I went to see Oscar Wild’s “An Ideal Husband” and I absolutely adored it. I walked in with no expectations and I didn’t have the faintest idea what it was about but I fell in love with the wit and humor immediately. The lines are so ridiculously charming and intelligent, the acting superb and the dresses and costumes were so beautiful … I almost started designing my wedding dress in my head (oh so very Vivienne Westwood!).

Although it was written in 1895 I think the themes are still relevant today and the characters so relatable. I know I’ll be day dreaming about it for days to come and I’m keen to download the script to read all the lines! (that’s how much I love it). To be honest even after all this ranting, I still don’t think it coveys how much I like this play and how amazing the acting was … oh and I’m totally in love with Lord Goring!!

Your last chance to see the play – THIS WEEK!!!!
And the crazy crazy crazy CRAZY thing is, the production finishes this week Friday 26th February. So if you are in London I highly highly highly recommend you see it! You can buy tickets here and it’s soooo worth it!

ps. Here are some quotes I managed to find online. Once I read through the script, I’ll probably add some more!

“The strength of women comes from the fact that psychology cannot explain us. Men can be analyzed, women… merely adored”

“Women have a wonderful instinct about things. They can discover everything except the obvious.”

“But there is one thing worse than an absolutely loveless marriage. A marriage in which there is love, but on one side only; faith, but on one side only; devotion, but on one side only, and in which of the two hearts one is sure to be broken.”

“Morality is simply the attitude we adopt towards people whom we personally dislike.”

“All sins, except a sin against itself, Love should forgive. All lives, save loveless lives, true Love should” pardon.

“Women are never disarmed by compliments; men always are.”

“Fashion is what one wears oneself. What is unfashionable is what other people wear.”

“Women have a wonderful instinct about things. They can discover everything except the obvious.”
